IIPT North East USA Chapter Formed

Mission statement adopted on June 25, 2006:

"Improving the world through responsible tourism and educational programs that encourage intercultural communication and promote peace"

During that meeting officers were elected, guidelines were created
and tasks were set for the future.

Meeting people and making alliances, forming networks  and developing friendships is the force behind TIP: Travelers in Peace. We will soon be joined by new colleagues from Italy, South Africa, Turkey, Slovenia and Croatia.

Projects are being developed for education, business development, and tour promotion. The goal, to help communities in need build sustainable economies through tourism dollars. For them profit is definitely NOT a four letter word. It is a way to freedom and self reliance.

One of our biggest challenges will be to meld these worlds together.  For our proposals, projects and incentives ... developed and nurtured through grass roots, not for profit efforts..... to allow people's in need to develop schools, businesses, and incentives of their own, with the help of tourism dollars, to maintain an economy that respects and cherishes global diversity.

We believe that when we seek to understand and embrace diversity, we have taken the first step toward peace.  The travel industry has an obligation, and a huge incentive to make that happen. So .... let us begin!

Our Parent organization's ( International Institute for Peace Through Tourism)  view of a world united in peace.

Travelers in Peace believes this can be done through travel, dialogue, open understanding and offering a hand of friendship where ever we travel.

Dedicated to making Travel and Tourism the world's first Global Peace Industry

Promoting the belief that Every Traveler is potentially an 'Ambassador for Peace'
